I just watched Dr. Phil on television. I usually never watch that, because I can't stand that man. But now there was a debate between people for and against same-sex marriages.
I regret watching it now because I get so damn upset! The American christian right. If I ever have to have a discussion with one of those people I think I would have to be tied down as to not just punch them in the face. How can anyone believe in what they are saying? First of all, they say the bible condemns it, well now, the bible do not condemn to stone people, now would you do that? >___< Aah~ I just get so mad at these kind of things! And the things the prop8 people were saying, if they said those kind of things in Sweden, they'd be hanged out as homophobes and god-knows-what. And rightfully so. I just can't believe the things they are allowed to say without people protesting! And like the commercial for prop8? As if there's anything wrong with children knowing about homosexual marriages? Like it's something shameful?
Here's the cm:

To teach kids that people are equal, that it doesn't matter if you're gay or straight, you're worth just as much and you have the same rights. OH NO! DON'T TEACH THESE THINGS TO OUR KIDS! WE WANT THEM TO BE JUST AS PREJUDICED AS WE ARE!!!!

I remember that there had been a lot of talk here in Sweden right before I left for Japan about there not being enough about homosexual relationships in our schools sex education. Sometimes I really feel that Sweden has come a long way. At least compared to a lot of other countries.
But still. The state Sweden is in now really scares me. Especially the amount of racists and their political partys, such as the Sweden Democrats. And they all say the same, we are not racists, we are patriots or nationalists or whatever the hell. I say big fat lies.

I don't really know what I want to say.. It's just that I'm so damn angry with people. Where dies this kind of hatred come from? How can someone hate another person because of sexual orientation or colour of their skin? How??
How can people say that if same-sex marriages is ok, why isn't pedophilia?
How can people really claim that all the rapists in Sweden are immigratns?
Just.. How can people be so ignorant and stupid? HOW?!

Aah~ I'm just getting more and more upset and probably making less and less sense, so I'll stop here.

Am thinking about filtering my entries a little. I think some people do not wish to hear all my whining when I get upset. So well, if you would like to skip some parts of my entries, tell me? Still haven't figured out what kind of filters I should have, so well, any suggestions? ^^

I agree with you totally. I cry when I see someone getting picked on because of who they love. I don't know why we feel the need to hate people that are different than us. I love that book. I know it is so controversial but I don't care. It needed to be written. Kids should be familiarized with same sex relations. It is a normal thing in life. They're going to find out one way or another. Ugh. Ignorant people make me sick.

Nicky

P.S.- Do not filter your entries. They are yours! If people get upset by reading them; let them. This is your journal and you should write what you feel. Don't filter them just because some people cannot stand an opinion that is different from theirs. I love your rant.

Yeah. Ignorant people is just.. Well, really it's sad, but I just get angry at them.

Well, I wasn't going to filter my entries for the sake of not liking what I'm writing but just so that people that are only here for, for example my fangirling, can read only that. But I think I've decided against filtering anyways. I think I'm too lazy. XDD

My mom is one of those people, and it's making our relationship very strained. :| We sort of were able to avoid talking about our differences for a while, but during the presidential election, I was campaigning for Obama and she was spouting all sorts of nonsense about how he would bring destruction and the end of the world or whatever. I don't understand. At all. I don't understand why some people think suppressing gay rights makes them a good person. I think they're all fucking morons, to be honest. I've lost a lot of respect for my own mother, and it kind of sucks. D: (Especially since there are so many gay/not-straight people in my family. How does she think we feel about it? Ugh.)

And, if you filter, I'd like to be on your filters. I read all of your entries! Even if I'm bad at commenting sometimes. D:

Oh my. That must be hard. >_<
Why can't people just see that what they are doing is just stupid and wrong, everyone should have the same rights and how sexual preferences would make any difference is just incomprehenseable!

I think I decided not to filter. I'm too lazy and well, if people don't want to read, they can just scroll. XDD Aaw. Thanks for reading! As for comments, I fail so bad at commenting myself. XDD

*hugs*

I, personally, can't agree at all with the majority of conservative right wing people's beliefs, at all. They're so ignorant and full of hate, despite saying they're people of God...like....all their arguments against gay marriage are based on the bible and in our constitution we have a clear rule that there should be a "separation of church and state"....but people are morons and I could rant about this for so long. But, bottom line is, conservatives piss me off a lot and this shit better not fly with Obama's cabinet. Hopefully, eventually, we'll get a federal law that protects gay and lesbian rights....it would be very controversial and I'm not sure Obama could do it or if it is a priority but I want to see it eventually. Proposition 8 dklsfla UGH...god I hope that gets turned over D:

Dr.Phil is, basically, another Jerry Springer...only he has a degree :/ it doesn't stop him from being a rating-seeking monger though. Dislike. A lot.

Also with the majority of christian conservatives who are really really outspoken and extreme...there is no talking or discussion with them. It is pointless XD

It's just so sad that there's really such an unbelievable amount of people who really think that way. I just can't understand how you can think that way!
Prop8 really really should be turned over. NOW! >___<

I nurse a great hate for DrPhil. Mostly because his upholding of old gender roles that should not be practiced anymore. >__<

That's the worst, when you try to talk to someone and you have really valid arguments, but it's like talking to a wall. Nothing can get me as frustrated as talking to someone like that. XD

I don't really know anything about that show but it kind of pisses me off even though I've never watched it. THIS is really the problem they need to discuss at the moment when we have crisis on our hands with people getting fired every other day.(Although I'm not aware of the state of things in your country.)Why not get down to doing something useful for a change!I wonder if the ever leave the homosexuals alone.

As for the filters, I agree that you shouldn't filter the entries. Those who don't want to read this won't die if the scroll it.

Yeah. But I think it's important to have a discussion, because people needs to get there eyes opened when it comes to gay rights, but I don't know how much this show really helped. >_<

Yeah. I decided not to filter my entries. I was thinking about it if there's people here only for my fangirly entries. But I'mjust too lazy. XDD

Er, whatever filters you decide to have, include me on them? :3 Though you really shouldn't have to do that.

But yes. Proposition 8. Enraged me, and the fact that it was actually passed in California (and by such a small margin), it still makes angry, ugh.

One of my closest friends is very conservative and religious, and she's against gay marriage. We had a huge debate/fight a few months ago over it, actually. Her reasoning was that by legalizing marriage, it's impinging on "her" religious beliefs. I'm just like WHAT? YOU DON'T MAKE SENSE. I think people are just really ignorant. I told her that she's prejudiced, but she doesn't think so >.> We don't bring up that subject anymore, just because I know where it's going to go and I didn't want to put more strain on our relationship :\

Anyway. I think it'll be a long time before people start seeing things clearly. I've always thought that Sweden was a relatively egalitarian society, compared to other countries anyway. I think Canada is making big strides (legalizing gay marriages, abortion, etc) but there are still so many racists and prejudiced people out there. It'll take time I think.

♥ Everyone keeps telling me not to filter, so I won't (and I'm too lazy XDD).

Prop8 might be the stupidest thing in a long long while. I just hope that people will open theireyes and understand that they've voted for a discriminating law that should not be allowed in the society today!

Oh god. Must be so difficult to have a friend with those beliefs and try to not let it get in between the friendship!
I mean, this was not about making priests or whatever marrying people against their beliefs, it's away from church and about having the same rights. .

It's so sad that there's so many issues that still needs to be worked out, that should not even be issues.
Sweden have gone a long way compared to many other countries. I mean we legalized abortion 1975. The problem now is that we walk around applauding ourselves for the progress we've done instead of working with all the issues we still have to work with.
But yeah, we need to give it more work and time.
