Mar. 26th, 2009 11:13 amI just watched The Reader. I am absolutely stunned. This might be the best and most thought-provoking movie I've seen in a long long while. I want to sit down and discuss and analyze this movie now!
Can you forgive someone for doing something unforgiveable?
How far can pride drive you?
What if someone you loved did something that can't be forgiven?
I'm also so very very impressed by Kate Winstlet. You don't get to see much of Helen's real emotions and to build a character from a script that doesn't seem to have much of her emotions in it. It's easier to have something, a time when your character looses it, to get to see underneath the characters skin. Here she can't have done that.
I am simply in awe at the greatness of this movie and it has made me think.
I love movies like this.
